KIND  WORDS, KIND ACTIONS

It is wonderful to see our corridors fill up with art pieces, creations and projects once more. The boys are working extremely hard academically while also remembering their wonderful Hollypark manners. Great effort is being made on eye-contact, respect and manners during class time and on yard.  Last week in assembly, the boys offered some great insights on how to play nicely on yard- including everybody in your games, kind hands, kind works, helping their classmates to play, and keeping your hands to yourself while lining up were just some of the great responses. We hope that you the parents, will help to re-enforce this message at home too.

Text

Last year, Hollypark BNS appointed 4 new Assistant Principals. Garvan Mc Evoy, Muireann Regan, Dearbhla Hynes and Caoimhe Webbley. The 4 members joined the In-School Management team (ISM) alongside Annette Lynch (Deputy Principal), Deirdre Larkin, Brigid Brennan and Ronan Ryan. Each of the Assistant Principals are part of the team in charge of the day-to-day running of the school. As well as this duty, they each have two curricular areas to manage. Great work has begun in earnest and each of the members are busy drafting policies, long and short-term plans as well as purchasing, managing and organising new resources throughout the school. We have heavily resourced and invested in the areas included in the table below. We look forward to the benefits it will have on teaching, learning and assessment in Hollypark BNS now and into the future.

PARENTING THE SCREENAGER- A PODCAST

Last Saturday week, Brendan O' Connor's RTE radio show featured an excellent interview with Richard Hogan. Richard is the author of Parenting the Screenager. He had great advice for parents of 10 year olds and upwards. He spoke of how technology has interrupted patterns of communication and how teenagers socialise; this has brought with it new challenges for parents. I have attached the link below for anyone who is interested in listening.

CUMANN NA MBUNSCOL- FOOTBALL

It is always an exciting time of the year when our 4th and 5th class pupils get to wear the Hollypark jersey for the first time. Yesterday, in Meadowvale and Deer Park, 40 boys got this opportunity. Both our Junior A and B teams played their hearts out and we are very proud of them. A special thank you to Ms. Costello, Ms. Smith, Mrs. Walsh and Ms. Crowe for taking the junior teams this year.

Our Senior B team had a wonderful result against St. Mary's, Rathfarnham last week with Mr. Mc Evoy and Ms. Clinton most impressed with the skill level. Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Murphy's Senior A team came up just short against an excellent Bishop Galvin NS in Tymon Park last Thursday. We look forward to doing it all again this week!
