The boys in junior and senior infants have been busy building bridges and figuring out which bridges were strongest. Ms Brennan's class used lots of different materials to build their bridges.
The boys in Ms Ryan's junior infants really enjoyed building bridges using lots of different shapes and sizes. They tested how strong their bridges were. They built very, very strong bridges!
The future of engineering in Ireland is bright with all the wonderful work these boys have been doing.
Ms Kilty and Mr Murphy's class were delighted to be visited by Aaron and Adam's mum who is an engineer. The boys really impressed her with their super questions. We really enjoyed the visit.
The boys in junior infants were so excited to have a visit from Rían's dad who chatted to them about engineering by relating it to their everyday lives.
The boys in Ms Smith's 3rd class and Mrs Regan's 4th class thoroughly enjoyed the visit from Cillian and Luke's dad. The boys asked some fantastic questions and learnt so much from his visit about the job of an electrical engineer.
Ms Dennan's first class teamed up with Ms O’Neill's fifth class to think like civil engineers with the marshmallow building challenge. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and working together.
The boys in 1st class were very lucky to get a visit from Cody's dad who is an environmental engineer. The boys learnt all about wind turbines and different ways of making energy.
We were delighted to welcome UCD Masters student, Ruth Crowe in to speak with the fifth and sixth class boys about studying engineering in university. Ruth showed the boys some of the projects she has worked on during her studies of electronic and computer engineering. The boys were fascinated by all she showed them. Thank you, Ruth!
Thank you to Anirudh’s dad who came in to talk to the 6th class boys talking about his job as a computer engineer. The boys were fascinated by all he had to tell them about his job and really enjoyed solving some puzzles he put to them.
The boys in Ms Reynolds class really enjoyed the marshmallow challenge. Teamwork at its best!
The boys in fifth class have really enjoyed some active lego coding. Engineers in the making for sure!
We were delighted to welcome STEAM Academy into the school for Engineers Week. The boys in Ms Crowe's class really enjoyed a hands-on robotics workshop.
Ms Smith's third class boys were busy making and testing their modes of transport during Engineers Week. They had great fun checking if their boats would float or sink! The ideas the boys had were fantastic.
Mr Mitchell's fifth class put their engineering skills to the test by constructing some fantastic boats. Like any great engineer, they put them to the test to see which boats floated. Fantastic work, boys!
Sixth class boys have been busy exploring ways to build using giant cards. Balancing such big cards was a real challenge but the boys mastered it. Super work, boys!
Ms O'Neill's class really enjoyed Engineers Week. They explored a different type of engineering each day. The boys engaged in experiments, challenges and reading up on all things engineering. They even worked with the younger boys in the school to teach them about engineering. Well done boys!
The boys in Ms O'Neill's class really enjoyed some experiments during Engineers Week. Here are some pictures of the boys learning about the pH scale and investigating acids and bases.
They also tested the Bee Bots and Sphero Indi cars. They made tracks by putting their coding skills to great use.
