KIND WORDS, KIND ACTIONS
It is wonderful to see our corridors fill up with art pieces, creations and projects once more. The boys are working extremely hard academically while also remembering their wonderful Hollypark manners. Great effort is being made on eye-contact, respect and manners during class time and on yard. On my daily visits to classrooms, the boys offer some great insights on how to play nicely on yard- including everybody in your games, kind hands, kind words, helping their classmates to play, and keeping your hands to yourself while lining up were just some of the great responses. We hope that you the parents, will help to re-enforce this message at home too.
SPORT FOR ALL DAY - SPONSORSHIP EVENT
Sports Blitz 2023: A message from the Parents' Association
We are excited to announce that our annual fundraising Sports Blitz will take place on Friday, 20th October. It is always a memorable day in the Hollypark BNS calendar! If there are any parents/guardians who are involved in Sports & Fitness (of any kind) and would be interested in getting involved with this fun filled event, please get in touch with us at hollyparkboyspa@gmail.com
We would be delighted to hear from you!
WALK ON WEDNESDAY (WOW)
Dear Parents/Guardians,
In an effort to reduce the traffic in and around the school and to encourage the boys to walk to school, the Greenschools committee will be trialling a supervised Walk on Wednesday on the 27th of September. We will start with 3rd-6th class only and look to add more classes in the coming weeks.
For week one, there will be one meeting point, in the carpark of the Foxrock Church.
With the support of the Parent’s Association volunteers and some staff members, we will meet at Foxrock Church car park at 8.15am and walk to school at approximately 8.20am. You can drop your son off on foot or by car to the Church car park.
We will then walk as a group to school, where your son will go to his designated class waiting area.
If the weather is very inclement on the 27th we will postpone it until the following Wednesday.
Week one of the W.O.W is open to all children from 3rd to 6th.
We hope to see you on the 27th.
The Greenschool’s Committee.
OPENING YEAR MASS
On Thursday, 28th September at 10am, 3rd - 6th class from Hollypark BNS and GNS will attend Foxrock Church for the opening of the year Mass. 6th class boys and girls will participate in the choir on the day. Thank you to Mrs. Gunning and Ms. De Fréin from Hollypark GNS for working their magic with the mixed choir.
All parents, grandparents and family members are welcome to attend the Mass.
ALADDIN CONNECT
Please ensure all families are signed up to Aladdin Connect. This is our method of communication. In order to receive text messages, please ensure when signing up for Aladdin Connect that you verify your mobile number when requested to do so.
GARRY RINGROSE,RUGBY HERO!
Rugby hero, Garry Ringrose, paid Hollypark BNS a visit 6 years ago. Pictured above is Ty, giving Gary some expert rugby tips. We hope the valuable lessons pay off on Saturday night and Ireland can overcome the power and strength of South Africa. We hope that Gary will pay Ty, now in 6th class, a visit with the Webb Ellis trophy in a few weeks time! Best of luck to Garry and team Ireland.
STARS OF THE FUTURE
Well done to Ms. Brennan's boys in room 1 who were designing and constructing line sculptures with their 5th class buddies. Great teamwork, co-operation, listening and engineering skills were on show.
Ms. Brennan's buddies are the wonderful 5th class boys in Ms. Coghlan/Ms. Brophy's. They are great role models.
FLOWER POWER
Last May, Ms. Perera and her team helped the boys to plant sunflower seeds. This week, Ms. Perera was back with a sunflower measuring well over 2 metres. Cillian, Tom and Alexander were on hand to help lift the giant sunflower around most of the classes in the school to show it off. It was that tall, the Junior Infant boys thought Jack and the Beanstalk had arrived!!
