MONTHLY FOCUS
A very warm welcome back to our entire school community. Our monthly focus for November is being led by our school Well-Being Committee.
This month we are using the theme, Pause and Reflect. At intervals throughout the week all classes will use techniques to help students build their mental well-being, resilience and positivity. Teachers will be using the link below for games and resources. I have attached links that you can use it at home also.

READATHON
Teachers will be encouraging all boys to get involved in the MS readathon for the month of November.
‘’Embark on an epic adventure this November! The MS Readathon inspires children to read as much as they can, all for an incredible cause. The rules are simple. Read whatever you like, as much as you can, in November. This year’s MS Readathon will be a magical quest, and the adventure kicks off on November 1st and wraps up on November 30th.’’
Visit www.msreadathon.ie for more information and how to donate to this worthy cause.
Happy reading boys!
STARS OF THE FUTURE
Congratulations to Jacqui Hurley, mother of Luke McMahon in 1st class, whose book has been nominated for the An Post Irish Book Awards 2020. Jacqui has written a fantastic children’s book called Girls Play Too which celebrates many of our Irish female sporting heroes. If you would like to vote for Jacqui’s book you can do so following the link below. https://www.irishbookawards.irish/
Well done Jacqui, we wish you the best of luck!
CHRISTMAS IS STARTING EARLY!
To make The Late Late Toy Show extra special this year, the Parents’ Association elves are busy making Goodie Boxes containing festive treats, a novelty gift and an activity booklet for the boys to enjoy during the show. The Goodie Boxes will go on sale very soon with a portion of funds raised being donated to a children’s charity. Further details will be on Aladdin shortly.
FOLENS CHRISTMAS ANNUALS
Boys received a Folens Christmas Annual order form today. The annuals cost €4 each. The last date to pre-order annuals is Tuesday 10th November. Please return completed order form and money to your child’s class teacher in a sealed envelope. The annuals are full of games and activities and can be a great time-fillers on winter evenings! There is no obligation to purchase the annuals.
COLDER WEATHER
With cooler temperatures upon us, I would like to remind boys to bring a coat with them to school. Activities, yard and PE will be outdoors as much as possible.
ADMISSIONS TO HOLLYPARK FOR 2021-2022
Enrolment for 2021-2022 will close on November 6th. To enrol please visit our visit our website www.hollyparkbns.ie
PARKING
A reminder to parents that parking is available in the church car park for drop off and collection times. If you are driving, we encourage you to use this location instead of our local estates that are getting terribly busy. Please park responsibly and do not block driveways. It is lovely to see so many boys getting fresh air on their daily walk to school.
SOLAR PANELS
As the cooler and darker days approach we are using more electricity in the building. Thankfully, our new solar panels are working well and our electricity costs will be vastly reduced this year! This image is taken from a new TV screen in the middle corridor. The screen displays all the solar information so our Green School’s committee can keep track of our grid input.

HALLOWEEN DRESS UP!
Well done to all staff and pupils for embracing the Halloween dress up day. There was a lovely fun-filled atmosphere in the school on the day. Thank you to our committee who pulled the whole event together. I am currently preparing my costume for next year already!!
HAND SANITIZER AND CLEANING PRODUCTS
Please be advised that Hollypark BNS are using hand sanitiser and cleaning products that have been approved by the Department of Education. To ensure effective use of these products, continue to send your child to school with visibly clean hands. The boys’ coughing and sneezing etiquette will stand to us during the winter months.
ALADDIN CONNECT APP
If your child has been absent for any reason, you must complete a return to school declaration form. This can be completed via the Aladdin Connect app.
