6th class Carol Service – Tuesday 10th December
Tempus Fugit
Time is flying by in Hollypark BNS and I can’t believe we are in Christmas show mode already! Boys in our junior end are putting great effort into learning lines and lyrics and our 6th class are doing us proud getting ready for their annual carol service. Thank you to all the teachers involved who put so much time and energy into the shows. Parents, you are in for a treat!
Monthly Focus
I must give a special mention to the boys of senior infants and 1st class who have taken ‘Kind Words and Kind Actions’ very seriously, especially when lining up in their new lines each morning. I am very proud of those boys and each boy received a sticker yesterday morning.
Door Times
The boys’ entrance doors will close at 9am. If your son arrives to school after that time he must enter through the front of the building where parents/guardians will have to sign him in. School begins at 8.40am.
Frasa na Seachtaine
Tá sé fuar taobh amuigh!
Hour of Code
Boys in 4th class will participate in Hour of Code on December 4th. The project is run in conjunction with Microsoft and the Junior Achievement Awards. Thanks to Mr. Ryan for organising this event.
String Quartet
Mr. Ryan has also organised a string quartet to entertain the boys of 3rd class today. This project is part of the Music Generation programme that we started in the school in September.
The ukulele players from 1st and 4th class are very nearly ready to show off their first party- piece. I am really looking to that!
Mental Health and Wellbeing
A picture tells a thousand words. Boys can use this infographic when not feeling themselves at school or at home. Boys, it’s ok not to feel ok, just remember to talk about it with a trusted adult. Remember, my door is always open.
Stars of the Future
Last Friday, I was treated to a fabulous display of Roman projects by boys from Ms. Hynes’ and Ms. Power’s class. The level of detail that went into the art projects, experiments and fun facts was just incredible. Rumour has it the boys had a visit from a Roman warrior wearing a sharp navy suit, polished brown shoes and a Roman mask, yielding a wooden sword!!!
Parents’ Association EGM
On Thursday 28th November, elections for the parent representatives to the Board of Management will take place at 6.30pm in the school hall. 2 votes will take place, one being a mother and one being a father of boys currently enrolled.
Head Lice
There has been an outbreak of head lice in several classes over the past few weeks. Please check your son’s hair regularly. For tips and advice on treating head lice please see overleaf.
Christmas Annuals
Christmas annuals are available to buy from your son’s teacher at 4 Euro each. Boys will receive a note in their folders/ journals in the coming days.
European Commission
The three 6th classes will visit the European Commission this week. The visit includes a presentation on the history and development of the European Union along with a DVD presentation on Ireland and the EU. Thank you to the 6th class teachers involved, it is nice to see boys learning outside the classroom environment!
