Quiz Success for Hollypark!

A huge well done to our two brilliant quiz teams who represented Hollypark so well in the recent DLR Libraries Quiz Competition. We’re proud to share that one of our teams came in 1st place, and the other secured 2nd place—an incredible achievement!

Both teams have now qualified for the grand final next week, and we couldn't be prouder of their teamwork, knowledge, and enthusiasm. Brains aplenty in 6th Class—well done, everyone! Thank you to Ms. Brennan for taking the teams and to SNA Ms. Clarke for attending the quiz with the boys also.

Ireland’s First School Deposit Return Scheme – Right Here in Hollypark!

We are proud to announce that Hollypark is the first school in Ireland to install a Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) machine on-site! In partnership with Zeeko Technology at UCD, we are now collecting plastic bottles and cans that carry the official return label. Every item recycled through our machine earns credit towards much-needed laptops and Chromebooks for our school. This initiative not only promotes sustainability and environmental awareness among our pupils but also directly supports digital learning. Well done to everyone involved in bringing this innovative project to life! Our pupil voice and green schools committee will lead the initiative.

Just this week alone, we returned over 5,000 bottles! Well done, boys, keep up the great work!

Kids Online - What's Really Going On?

You're Invited: Protecting Our Children in the Digital Age
📅 Thursday, 29th May 2025
📍 Monkstown Educate Together National School (METNS)

Monkstown ETNS is delighted to welcome Eoghan Cleary, a dedicated secondary school teacher and passionate advocate for online child safety.

In today’s world, our children are surrounded by internet-enabled devices — not just smartphones, but tablets, gaming consoles, smart TVs, and more. Eoghan works closely with young people and truly understands the hidden dangers and long-term impact of unsupervised online access.

This event is a must-attend for parents who want real insights and practical advice on:

  • What children are really exposed to online
  • The risks of unfiltered internet access
  • How to create a safer digital environment at home
  • Empowering your child — without fear or overwhelm

Do we need to protect our children from the internet?
Come to METNS on the 29th May and find out what’s really going on — and what you can do about it.

Thank You, Bill Hanlon!

A big thank you to Bill Hanlon for visiting Mr. Ryan's 2nd class boys and sharing his incredible experiences from around the world, including his awe-inspiring climb of Mount Everest! Bill, who works as a doctor providing medical care to remote communities, captivated the class with his adventurous stories and inspiring dedication to helping others. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the talk and had a wealth of questions afterward. What a memorable visit!

Board Game Day Fun In Room 2

Well done to the boys of Room 2 who had a fantastic time during board game day! They earned this special reward by collecting 10 stars in the jar for their excellent focus throughout the week. As a result, they got to enjoy a full session of classic fun—just board games, nothing computerised! They could have played for hours. They spent the afternoon rotating between different games and making the most of the well-deserved treat.
