Thank You!

Thank you to all the parents and guardians for keeping children off the school grounds this week during collection times. The teachers at the front of the building have noticed a huge reduction in noise levels.

Junior Infants

Junior Infants have settled into school life with ease. Well done boys (and parents!).Today Rooms 1, 2 and 3 celebrated ‘Independence Day’. Congratulations to all the boys who entered the school building on their own! They will also have their first full day on Thursday 12th and will finish at 1.25pm.

Many thanks to all parents for their continued cooperation and patience as the boys settle into school.

Aladdin ePayments

We are pleased to announced that you are now able to make payments online using our online Aladdin Database. The purpose of the ePayments system is to make it easier for you to make payments and to reduce the amount of money coming into the school office. An explanation letter was given to your son last week. Please see the note for full details. We have now completed our first collection via ePayments successfully. Thank you to all parents for their co-operation.

Monthly Focus

Our monthly focus for September is saying ‘thank you’. We have so much to be grateful for in our lives. This month I encourage our boys to say, ‘thank you’. Thank you to their parents, to their teachers, to their coaches, the lollipop lady etc.

Aistear

Our Senior Infants have started Aistear (play based learning) and they are really enjoying their learning experiences. This month’s themes are; My family/Home – Ms. Kilty, The Supermarket – Ms. Breathnach and The Garda Station –Ms. O’Byrne. The themes connect to each other and link to the subjects in the Infant curriculum. Together the themes offer a way to plan for and support children’s learning and development so that they benefit from positive and enjoyable experiences in their early childhood years.

Frása na Seachtaine

Tús maith leat na hoibre!

Cumann na mBunscol

Last week, two of our teachers were having a very detailed conversation on how to beat the opposition. Tactics, kick outs, midfield battle, scores to chances ratio and so on. I was getting a little worried and thought they might be taking the Senior team to whole new level! On further inspection Mr. Mitchell and Mrs. O’Callaghan, two Dubs supporters, were discussing ‘The Drive for Five’ and Dublin’s chances of beating Kerry next Saturday evening! Best wishes to Mrs. O’Callaghan’s son, Con, who will line out in blue this weekend. Play well Con.

Not to be outdone, Ms. Kilty and Ms. Costello, our resident Kerry supporters, have decorated the top corridor in green and yellow. It will be an interesting battle this weekend. May the best team win!

Stars of the Future!

Best of luck to Ewan Byrne in 6th class and past pupil Ronan McNamara, who will play at half time in the All Ireland Final on Saturday in Croke Park. We wish you well boys!

Uniform and Books

Boys are looking very sharp in their uniforms and black shoes. Tracksuits can be worn by any boy who has PE, training or after school sports only.

Please make sure all books and copy books are covered. Book rental books must be kept in good condition and should be returned to the school in June.

Beir bua agus beannacht,

Barry O’Donovan
