Hollypark BNS Sports Day – A Fantastic Day of Fun and Fair Play!
What an incredible day we had for this year’s Sports Day! The sun shone brightly, the boys laughed loudly, and above all, fair play and school spirit were the true winners.
From sprints to sack races, penalties to relays, the field was alive with energy, enthusiasm, and great sportsmanship. It was a joy to see so many talents on display and such fantastic participation across all year groups.
A huge thank you goes to Mrs. Regan, who once again orchestrated the entire event with flawless coordination – all in the middle of hurling season, standardised testing, and report writing. Truly multi-tasking at its finest – thank you, Mrs. Regan, for making it all happen! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped set up, take down and reorganise throughout the day. A special thank you to parent Dave Flanagan for lending his strength and talents to our setup!
Our sincere thanks also to the ever-entertaining DJ and MC, Barry O' Brien, who brought life and laughter to the day. Barry, it looks like you’ve officially landed a job for life with us!
We were also grateful to have St. John’s Ambulance on site to provide First Aid cover – thank you for your care and presence.
A very special thank you goes to our amazing past pupils, who returned to help with set-up, organisation, and clean-up. Their hard work and cheerful attitudes did not go unnoticed – they were simply fabulous.
Finally, congratulations to our penalty shootout winners:
🥇 Daniel Carney
🥈 Tom Murphy
🥉 Daniel O Cearbhaill
Well done also to Tom Langford, who won the PA race in the 800 metres. A massive well done to all participants. Sports Day 2026 was a truly memorable event, full of fun, friendship, and Hollypark pride.
Thank you, Dole Fruit
We are delighted to announce that Dole Ireland generously sponsored this year’s Sports Day by providing delicious, healthy smoothies for all students. Thanks to their support, the students were able to enjoy a refreshing smoothie after their events, helping them stay energised and refreshed for the rest of the day.
Dole Ireland’s involvement reflects their ongoing commitment to supporting local communities and promoting the importance of healthy eating amongst young people. By partnering with schools like ours, Dole aims to inspire lifelong healthy habits and make a positive contribution to the well-being of future generations. We are incredibly grateful for their support and dedication to both our school and the wider community.

Hollypark Turns 60! Street Party Celebration
Congratulations to the entire Hollypark community on a wonderful Street Party held last week to celebrate our school's 60th anniversary. It was a day filled with fun, laughter, treats and memories that will last for many years to come.
The boys thoroughly enjoyed the festivities, with Teddy's Ice Cream proving a huge hit on the day! There was something for everyone, with a magician, entertainer, DJ, inflatables and a variety of large games creating a fantastic atmosphere throughout the school.
A huge thank you to all the parents, guardians and staff members who gave so generously of their time to help with the set-up and organisation. Special thanks must also go to our Student Council, Green Schools Committee and our wonderful 6th Class boys, who played a blinder in preparing for the celebrations and ensuring everything ran smoothly on the day.
Most importantly, it was wonderful to see the smiles on the faces of the boys as they enjoyed this very special occasion. We had a photographer present to capture all the precious moments! The photos are now live on our new media wall.
The Street Party was a fitting celebration of 60 years of Hollypark BNS – a school built on community, friendship and creating happy memories for generations of boys.
Here's to the next 60 years!
Hot School Meals Scheme
We are delighted to report that Day 1 of our Hot School Meals Scheme was a tremendous success. There was a real sense of excitement throughout the building as the boys received their lunches, and the meals were very well received by pupils across all class levels. We would like to thank the team at Nourish + Green, who have been a pleasure to work with throughout the planning and implementation process, and we look forward to continuing this successful partnership in the months and years ahead.
A gentle reminder to all parents and guardians to please log in to the Nourish + Green portal to sign up for the meal service. Families who do not wish to avail of the scheme can also opt out through the same portal.
To activate your account, click here.
Once you have completed activation, please continue the setup process in the portal:
- Click the "My account" link
- Select "Manage Students" from the My account menu
- To add a student, click the Add New button
- Enter the activation code
- Return to the Dashboard to select meals for your student
Note: While you can have multiple students attached to your account (even from different schools), each student can be managed only by one parent/guardian. Adding the student to another parent/guardian account will automatically remove them from the previous account.
If more than one parent/guardian needs to manage a student, they must both log into the same account on their devices.

Buddies for Life – A Hollypark Tradition That Warms the Heart
One of the most cherished and enduring traditions in Hollypark BNS is our Buddy System – a beautiful initiative that pairs each Junior Infant with a 5th Class buddy. This bond continues to grow as they journey through the school together, becoming Senior Infants and 6th Class side by side.
Over the course of two years, these boys form real friendships built on kindness, care and shared experiences. From Teddy Bear Picnics, reading sessions, and art show-and-tells, to helping each other during Sports Day, Ice Cream Day, Minibeast Hunting, and even Graduation, the buddy partnership creates moments the boys never forget.
In fact, many of our current 6th Class pupils still fondly remember their own buddies from when they first started in Junior Infants – a testament to the lasting impact of this special connection.
We are especially excited about an upcoming event that highlights this bond:
On Monday, June 22nd, from 1:10 p.m., our Senior Infants and 6th Class buddies will perform a special song for the parents/guardians of the Senior Infants.
(All are warmly invited to attend.)
Please note that we ask parents and boys not to buy presents for their buddies. Thank you.
The following day, our 6th Class boys will graduate and repeat this touching performance for their own families. It is always a heartfelt and unforgettable moment that marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next.
In Hollypark, once a buddy… always a buddy!

Well done to all of our Mini All-Ireland and Mini World Cup winners!
Over the past few weeks, our local pitches have come alive with energy, excitement, and incredible skills. The boys displayed determination, passion, and true teamwork in every match – a credit to themselves and their teams.
I’ve received so many fantastic emails and photos from proud winners and parents that I simply can’t fit them all into the newsletter – a great sign of how much these events mean to our school community!
To every boy who took part – whether you scored the winning goal, made a crucial save, or simply gave it your all – congratulations. You made these tournaments a highlight of the year.
Keep playing, keep smiling, and keep showing that Hollypark spirit on and off the pitch!
COYBIB!
Congratulations to Conor, Thomas and Daniel, who proudly represented Dublin against Antrim in the Cross Border Challenge last week. It was a tremendous achievement for the boys to wear the blue jersey and showcase their talents on such an occasion.
Everyone in Hollypark BNS is immensely proud of their performances, and something tells us this won't be the last time we see these talented young men lining out in blue. Well done, boys – the future looks bright!

This week is a very special week for these great boys: Sonny Cuneen, Aaron McCarthy, Sam Fay, Charlie Sheriff, Cian Simons, William Merren, Sean Patrick O'Donnell, and Freddy Keirnan.
Have a great celebration, boys!
Beir bua agus beannacht,

Principal
