It is the second week back and it feels like we never left! Well done to all classes for getting down to work so quickly after the summer break. Teachers are reporting high levels of concentration, work ethic, and teamwork. Manners and respect underpin everything we do in Hollypark and it is great to see our boys demonstrate these traits on a daily basis. We are very proud of our students. Well done to our marvellous Junior Infant students who have settled so well into their new surroundings. Junior Infants met with their new 5th class buddies yesterday. The buddy system in Hollypark is a lovely tradition where boys from 5th and 6th buddy up with our Junior and Senior Infant students and meet regularly for games, activities, story time and much more. Our senior boys are excellent role models for our younger pupils.
PARK AND STRIDE
The Gardaí have once again asked us to appeal to all parents, not to block driveways and exit routes and to park safely in surrounding estates. We again remind you that free parking is available in Foxrock Parish car park. We encourage our older boys to walk, cycle and scoot to school. Everyone's cooperation in this will ensure the safety of our children and the happiness of our local residents.
3RD CLASS ART
Ms. Morgan's 3rd class are off to a great start and have lovely wall displays outside their room. They are busy learning all about Fionn and the Salmon of Knowledge. Well done boys, keep up the great work!
FOOTBALL SEASON
Gaelic football season is back with a bang! Inspired by Dublin's magnifcent All- Ireland win, Hollypark Junior and Senior footballers will take to the field once again. Junior matches are on Tuesday evenings and Senior matches take place on Thursday evenings.
This year, we have an incredible team of 9 staff members giving very generously of their time and expertise to coach and manage the teams. A huge thank you to our team of volunteers and best wishes in the upcoming games.
Well done to our Junior A team who beat St. Michael's yesterday with a very impressive and dominant victory. Spare a thought for the Ball family (pictured below) who very much had divided loyalty with Scott playing for Hollypark and Charlie wearing the blue of St. Michael's. Scott has the bragging rights for 2023 and rumour has it, Charlie's forfeit is to wash Scott's football boots after every match this year!
STAR OF THE FUTURE
Congratulations to James Furlong, past pupil of Hollypark BNS, who played for Ireland u21s last night against San Marino. James made a transfer deadline-day switch from Brighton to Hull City. We wish James well with his new club and we will be following his progress with interest. Throughout his 8 years in Hollypark, James was always a role model to his peers and younger pupils. We are delighted to see his soccer career go from strength to strength.
OPENING YEAR MASS
On Thursday, 28th September at 10am, Hollypark BNS and GNS will attend Foxrock Church for the opening of the year Mass. 6th class boys and girls will participate in the choir on the day. Thank you to Mrs. Gunning and Ms. De Fréin from Hollypark GNS for working their magic with the mixed choir.
All parents, grandparents and family members are welcome to attend the Mass.

After-School Guitar Lessons
Hello my name is Marc Roche, I’m a professional guitar and singing teacher. I’m delighted to announce that this September I’ll be offering after school guitar lessons to students of St. Patrick’s BNS, Hollypark. The classes will take place on Friday directly after school and are open to students from 1st class to 6th.
Classes are 30 minutes long and the students are divided into two groups. The younger group (1st to 3rd) will have their lessons straight after school on Fridays in classroom 6. While the younger group are learning the older group (4th to 6th) are welcome to wait in the classroom and do their homework/read a book. Once the younger group has finished their lesson, I’ll bring them outside to be collected by their parents and then the older group's 30-minute lesson will begin.
I try to make the classes as fun and entertaining as possible with games and competitions. As well as learning how to play the guitar students will get lessons in songwriting, classical guitar, reading music for guitar as well as learning all the popular songs of the day.
The classes cost €130 per 10-week term and will start in the middle or end of September. For more information or if you’d like to register, please text or WhatsApp Marc at 0863935142 including your students name and what class they are in. Also, if you could mention the name of the school that would be great as I’m taking bookings from multiple schools. Thank you.
Marc

LOST AND FOUND
Please, clearly label all belongings that boys bring to school. We are only 2 weeks back at school and already we have a large collection of lost and found items. Many of these items are new and have no names on them. All lost and found items that are not claimed are donated to charity at the end of each month.
ALADDIN CONNECT
Please ensure all families are signed up to Aladdin Connect. This is our method of communication. In order to receive text messages, please ensure when signing up for Aladdin Connect that you verify your mobile number when requested to do so.
TREES
Please do not let the boys play in the trees before or after school. Thank you.
MONEY CLUB
Core Credit hopes you all enjoyed your summer break. We will be returning with the Money Club in Hollypark Boys School from 19 September 2023.
