Seactain na nGaeilge gave the 4th class the chance to celebrate everything that is good about living in Ireland. The experience helped to integrate all subjects on the curriculum…..

• Yoga as Gaeilge (PE)
• The lakes, islands, and headlands of Ireland (Geography)

The two boys who made the most effort at speaking Irish (Gaelgóir na Seachtaine) from each 4th class received a prize from Mrs. Kelly.

Avicii as Gaeilge:

This has been a very busy time for 4th Class as they helped to launch Seacthain na Gaeilge with the Avicii song (as Gaeilge). Some of the class played guitar and others sang along. One boy from each class led the group in singing.
The Haka as Gaeilge:
Many hours were spent practising for the Haka as Gaeilge. The 4th classes were just as good if not better than the All-Black rugby team. Hats were made during art class and some of the boys used bodhráns for extra special effect.

Aifreann Gaelach:

The 4th classes practiced prayers and hymns as Gaeilge for the Aifreann gaelach. All 4th classes attended mass in Foxrock church. Some of the boys in our class played the concertina and tin whistle on the altar.

Yoga as Gaeilge:

Our classes had great fun with yoga as Gaeilge. We practiced our stretching and breathing. Some of us are really fit and flexible.

Trip to Dublinia:

During the month of January the 4th classes have been busy working on Viking projects. They displayed models of Viking long-ships, helmets, weapons and shields outside their classroom. Mr. Burke, Ms. Doherty and Mrs. McCarrick organised a trip to Dublinia. The boys got the opportunity to sit inside a Viking home and see many artefacts from Woodquay in Dublin which contained a huge Viking settlement.

Tin Whistle:

In recent weeks the 4th classes have been fortunate to get the opportunity to learn how to play a musical instrument. The teachers, with the help of Mrs. Tecklenburg, have been teaching the boys how to play the tin whistle.
