ALL IRELAND CHAMPION

Colm Carron, All Ireland Champion, doesn't that sound fantastic! Colm won two Irish dancing All Ireland medals in Kerry at the weekend. Dancing the 6 hand reel and the 8 hand reel, Colm and his partners excelled and took home the gold, much to the delight of the large crowd present in the INEC, Killarney. In Hollypark, we are not surprised one bit as Colm has been perfecting his craft for many years. Colm, you are doing us proud. Maith thú!

Sports Blitz 2024

The Parents' Association are very busy finalising plans for our fundraising Sport Blitz which will take place next week, on Friday 4th October.  Sports activities on the day will include Soccer, Rugby, Cricket, Tennis, Volleyball, Stretch-n-Grow, Table Tennis, Hip Hop, Pilates, Yoga, Dizzy Feet Dance Classes and some Outdoor Games. With such a wide range of activities, it promises to be a day of active fun for all of the boys. The Sports Blitz is the Parents’ Associations main annual fundraiser for our school, and we deeply appreciate your generous support from last year.
This year, we are raising funds towards our new Autism Class.  With your support, we can provide specialised learning tools, sensory equipment and create a warm, welcoming environment that will have a significant impact on the lives of our new students.  Let’s come together as a school community to raise the funds needed to bring this wonderful project to life!
Sponsorship cards have been sent home, and we are encouraging the boys to take part by completing chores in exchange for sponsorship. Your support, in any form, is greatly appreciated. We are looking forward to making this year's Sports Blitz another memorable and successful day.

HOLLYPARK ABú

I had the pleasure of being pitch-side for our Junior B match yesterday in Glenalbyn. Our team played with skill, determination, positivity and great teamwork to win by 7 points over St. Laurence's. It was a superb display. The bragging rights in Kilmacud are secured for at least another year! Our Junior A's were very unfortunate to concede a last-minute goal to end honours even in their match. Thank you to Ms. Reynolds, Ms. Costello and Ms. Cryan for accompanying the teams.

Our Senior A team got off to a great start in their quest for Croke Park last week. A superb last-minute block by Stephen Rourke set up one final chance for Hollypark. Liam Byrne took full advantage and hammered the ball into the back of the net to win by 1 point! It was a dramatic finish! Our Senior As and Bs get to do it all over again this week! Thank you to Mr. Mitchell, Mr. Mc Evoy, ......
It is great to see over 60 boys play Gaelic league matches weekly. Hollypark abú!

KIND WORDS, KIND ACTIONS

It is wonderful to see our corridors fill up with art pieces, creations and projects once more. The boys are working extremely hard academically while also remembering their wonderful Hollypark manners. Great efforts are being made on eye-contact, respect and manners during class time and on yard.  On my daily visits to classrooms, the boys offer some great insights on how to play nicely on yard- including everybody in your games, kind hands, kind words, helping their classmates to play, and keeping your hands to yourself while lining up were just some of the great responses. We hope that you the parents, will help to re-enforce this message at home too.

ARRIVING SAFELY TO SCHOOL

The majority of parents are driving and dropping their children with care. However, we are witnessing some very dangerous practices in the moring. If everyone makes a concerted effort to drive, cycle, walk with consideration and safety, this will create a safer environment for our school community and our patient residents.
You must park your car safely before allowing your child to enter/exit. When crossing the road, please cross with the school wardens provided. If Caroline, our Warden is stopping traffic, please do not cycle past her. Please stop and wait for the children to cross.

We remind parents and students not to block the footpaths during drop off and collection.  If Infant parents could leave space to pass and room for Caroline, our Warden, it would be much appreciated. School doors open at 8.40 am and drop off is between 8.40-8.50am. (8.35 am for 5th and 6th)

We have been in discussions with Active Travel and Safe Routes to School (DLR) for the past 30 months in an effort to make the school zone a safer one for our students. We understand surveys and drawings have commenced. We will keep you updated.
