LOCAL SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Last May, I published the list attached for where our 6th class pupils were going to secondary school. As the dates for upcoming enrolments is coming soon, I thought it would be a good idea to re-publish it. We are blessed to have so many magnificent schools in our area. Keep an eye on their websites for open days upcoming.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS- OPEN DAYS
Please see the posters below for two of our feeder schools. Oatlands College and CBC Monkstown.
Uniform Recycling!
The Parents Association are organising a collection of Hollypark Boys' uniforms / tracksuits / coats which boys have outgrown, and you may have at home no longer in use. Members from the PA will be outside the school accepting these items on Friday 16th & Friday 23rd September from 8.15am to 9.00am. If you have items to donate, we ask that they are clean and in good condition (no rips or tears, zips working etc.) and all personal information removed i.e. boys name, contact phone number. The uniform sale will be held on Friday 30th September in the school hall, details to follow.
This week is a very special week for these great boys; Thomas Donegan, Chun Yin Man, David Adendorff, Tom Burton, Jack Barry, Darragh Finan, Jamie Healy, Robert Reys, Noah Mc Cann, Rian Fogarty, Eoghan Gallagher, Diego Small, Dylan Hehir, Jake Hehir agus Oisín Flynn Griffith. We hope you have a lovely celebration.
SMART PHONES/SMART WATCHES AND RELATED DEVICES
We understand that some older pupils may require a mobile phone for purposes of contacting parents on their walk home. Some smart watches and related devices now seem capable of calling mobiles too. For both smart phones and related devices, the rules are the same (pursuant to our school policy). Request for phone/related devices must be made in writing to the school principal. If granted, the phone/related device must be switched off and placed in schoolbag during school time. Failure to adhere to the policy, may result in phone/device being confiscated.
PLEASE, LABEL EVERYTHING!
Many, many coats, jackets, jumpers and boots, get lost on a daily basis in Hollypark. We need to teach our children to respect their possessions. Please begin by putting a name and phone number on all items that enter the school. We do not operate a lost and found in Hollypark. Clothes and other items without names/number are donated to charity at the end of each month.
6TH CLASS BAKE-OFF
Bake-off season has returned and our 6th class pupils got an opportunity to improve their weighing and measuring skills. They created some flapjacks and enjoyed the tasting of these delights very much!
STAR OF THE FUTURE
Congratulations to Alexis Borré, 5th class, who won a recent Spelling Bee competition held in Casablanca. Alexis has recently joined our school from Morocco and it is great to see him get off to a flying start! Well done Alexis.
Parenting the Screenager- A PODCAST
Last Saturday, Brendan O' Connor's RTE radio show featured an excellent interview with Richard Hogan. Richard is the author of Parenting the Screenager. He had great advice for parents of 10 year olds and upwards. He spoke of how technology has interrupted patterns of communication and how teenagers socialise; this has brought with it new challenges for parents. I have attached the link below for anyone who is interested in listening.

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY
Aideen Walsh to tee up at KPMG Women’s Irish Open
Co Clare native and former Hollypark BNS school teacher, Aideen Walsh, has accepted an invitation to compete at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open at Dromoland Castle from September 22-25.
The Irish international amateur is no stranger to competing alongside the stars of women’s golf having twice played her way into the ISPS Handa World Invitational courtesy of her Ulster Stroke Play victories in 2021 and 2022.
It is great to see Aideen featuring so prominently in our newspapers and sports pages over the past week. From all the teachers, SNAs and pupils, we wish her the VERY best of luck.
PARK AND STRIDE
The local residents have once again asked us to appeal to all parents, not to block driveways and exit routes and to park safely in surrounding estates. We again remind you that free parking is available in Foxrock Parish car park. We encourage our older boys to walk, cycle and scoot to school. Everyone's cooperation in this will ensure the safety of our children and the happiness of our local residents.
Beir bua agus beannacht,
Principal
