SPORTS BLITZ '22

What an incredible day we had last Friday! In glorious sunshine, boys from Junior Infants- 6th enjoyed a diverse range of sports. Tennis, yoga and hip-hop dancing caught the imagination of our younger boys while volleyball, soccer and table-tennis were very popular amongst the senior end.
Thank you to all volunteers, coaches, past-pupils, mums and dads for your help with the day and a huge thank you for your generosity with sponsorship. Finally, a massive thank you to Sarah and her Parents' Association team for their incredible work in pulling the whole event together. It was a major success from start to finish with an incredible E22,000 raised for the school. All monies will be re-invested in the school and will add to our fantastic facilities.
I hope you enjoy the selection of pictures below:

It was a marvellous weekend for Kilmacud Crokes. Their Senior Ladies' Football team got the weekend off to a winning start with a great win versus Dunboyne. This victory was followed by the Men's Senior team, which featured many Hollypark past pupils, to beat Na Fianna in the final. This weekend the men's hurlers will also play Na Fianna in the county hurling final. The Kilmacud hurling team features 8 past Hollypark pupils. We wish them well!

MRS. O' CALLAGHAN

Happy retirement Mrs. O' Callaghan! Rionach O' Callaghan has been a stalwart of our school for the past 15 years. Working as part of the special education team, Rionach is a true inspiration to pupils, parents and colleagues. With boundless energy and words of encouragement, she always managed to get the best out of her students. She will be fondly remembered by all her past pupils and co-workers. We look forward to her retirement celebration on Friday.

Pictured below is Rionach with her colleagues Ms. Maloney and Mr. Molyneux.

MATHS WEEK

Maths Week is in full swing and the boys are really enjoying the problems and riddles presented to them every day. Maths in the world around us is being explored by all classes as the boys take part in various trails around the school. Identifying shapes, looking for the longest registration plate in the carpark, reading the statistician's plaque hanging on the wall of the school and identifying lines and angles inside and outside the school are some of the many activities the boys have been enjoying this week.
Thank you to Ms. Hynes and Mr. Mc Evoy for all the challenges, games and activities.

CHAMPIONS!!

Congratulations to our wonderful Senior B team who beat St. Laurence's in a cracking match last week. ''We are the Champions'', rang around the pitch at Meadowvale as the Hollypark boys lifted the trophy. It was a stunning team performance and coaches Mr. Mc Evoy and Ms. Clinton were full of praise for their team. Well done to all involved.
Unfortunately, our Senior A team came up just short in their quarter final versus St. Pius X. The boys put in another great performance and Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Murphy were very proud of their efforts.

HALLOWE'EN DRESS UP

Halloween is upon us once again and we are looking forward to seeing the boys dressed up for our annual Hallowe'en dress-up day! This year it will take place on Friday 28th October.
Some boys have already begun their costume planning and we are excited to see the variety they will be dressed as, from spooky to silly and everything in between. Please find below guidelines and requirements to follow for the smooth and safe running of the day:

  • No accessories, e.g., nothing they need to hold in their hand or things that can be put down for others to potentially pick up and handle.
  • No long capes, dangly material or anything that may be a tripping hazard.
  • Costumes should be comfortable and practical for sitting in the classroom for the day, e.g., no inflatable costumes.
  • Be mindful that the costume isn’t going to scare a younger student. If you think a Junior Infant will be frightened, then tone it down or reconsider.

Less is more when it comes to costumes and keeping it simple can often be the most effective. There will be prizes throughout the school for best dressed and creative costumes. It is a very exciting day for the boys and with your continued support and understanding we hope to make it another success.
