DATE FOR YOUR DIARY

School Sports Day - Thursday, June 15th (weather permitting!) All parents/guardians are welcome to attend. Further details and timetables will issue closer to the date.

PREPARING FOR SEPTEMBER '23

Your son’s Booklist, Sundries, Extras and Insurance were emailed to all parents yesterday. The Department of Education are now covering the cost of schoolbooks and copies under the new grant scheme which presents a great saving to you.
You are required to pay only for the Sundries, Extras and Insurance.

Please return your completed booklist and insurance form with your son’s name and current class marked clearly to your son’s teacher.
You can pay by cash, cheque (made payment to St. Patrick’s BNS) or via Aladdin by Wednesday 24th May 2023.

Your Booklist and payments must be returned by Wednesday 24th May to ensure books are ordered and in our classes before the end of June. We will not be taking orders after Wednesday 24th May. Please be aware that book companies are under added pressure this year to supply schoolbooks under the new government scheme.
Many thanks for your co-operation in this matter.

STANDARDISED TESTING

In May, we carry out standardised testing from 2nd - 6th in reading, maths and spelling. 1st class begin standardised testing spelling and maths. Some pupils will do reading screening in SET.
These tests are just one method of assessing a pupil’s performance and we know that it is just a snapshot on a particular day that can be affected by numerous circumstances.

Standardised tests will give us information to guide our teaching and learning for the next academic year. It will also help us to identify pupils who may benefit from additional support.

For further information, please check out this link on the NCCA website.

School tour season has begun. Our 1st class boys had a lovely trip to Navan Adventure Centre yesterday. The manners and respect shown by our boys to the bus driver and staff in Navan is to be commended. Well done boys, we are proud of you.
