ENGINEERS WEEK
This week, we are celebrating Engineers Week. The school is buzzing with classes taking part in everything to do with engineering. The boys are learning about the various types of engineers and all that they do in the world around us.
We are very lucky in Hollypark to have wonderful parents and this week, the boys are thoroughly enjoying visits from some engineers. We will have full details in next week's letter. Thank you to Ms. Hynes for once again leading a magnificent Engineers Week in our school.

STEM VISIT
We were delighted to welcome 3 teachers from Our Lady's Girls', Ballinteer to our school last week. They heard many good things about our wonderful STEM equipment and resources and wanted to check it out for their school. They were treated to a Sphero demonstration by Mr. Mc Evoy's 5th class and an IndyBot demonstration by Mr. Molyneux's 5th class. They were very impressed with our equipment, use of technology and the 5th class boys who demonstrated so well.
On Friday, Ms. Hynes will visit a local school, Queen of Angels for a demonstration on Lego Spike. If the equipment gets a thumbs up, we will look to purchase some Lego Spike sets for Hollypark. Watch this space...
For the past 6 weeks, Ms. Larkin's 4th class have been having STEM workshops with Arati from e2 Young Engineers Ireland. The workshops were Lego based and proved to be a huge hit with the class. Arati is hosting 3 special Lego Bricks Challenge STEM workshops on Sunday 3rd March. Please see the details below if you would like to sign up.
We are extremely excited to be a part of the Launch for Engineers Week 2024 by Engineers Ireland and STEPS Ireland. We will be running 3 special Lego Bricks Challenge STEM workshops on Sunday 3rd March @ Engineers Ireland, Clyde Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4

Well done to Rian, David, Matthew, Nathan and Alex who represented our school at the Core Credit Union Schools quiz in Cherrywood Educate Together school last Friday night. The boys answered questions on a wide variety of topics ranging from literature and music to maths and sport. It was a competitive and exciting event. We are very proud of our quiz team’s performance and are looking forward to our next outing in May when the boys will get to participate in the Dun Laoghaire Libraries school quiz competition.

BUDDY PUPPET SHOW
Our Junior Infants were treated to a puppet show by their 5th class buddies last week. Well done to Mr. Mc Evoy's 5th class, who wrote, directed and starred in the production! The show was was based on the theme of 'Friendship' and our infant students loved it. Our 5th and 6th classes take their buddy role very seriously and it really helps the younger students in our school. Well done boys, keep up the great work.
Get ready to rock in your socks once more this year. One of our favourite events of the year is the Odd Sock Day in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland. This years event will take place on March 21st. Boys are asked to wear odd socks to school. Donations can be made on the day and there will be a bucket collection at the gate. All proceeds will go to The Down Syndrome Centre in Sandyford.
Thank you to Ms. Dunne for organising the event.
