Second week back and it feels like we never left! Well done to all classes for getting down to work so quickly after the summer break. Teachers are reporting high levels of concentration, work ethic and teamwork. Manners and respect underpin everything we do in Hollypark and it is great to see our boys demonstrate these traits on a daily basis. We are very proud of our students.

PARK AND STRIDE
The local residents have once again asked us to appeal to all parents, not to block driveways and exit routes and to park safely in surrounding estates. We again remind you that free parking is available in Foxrock Parish car park. We encourage our older boys to walk, cycle and scoot to school. Everyone's cooperation in this will ensure the safety of our children and the happiness of our local residents.
Please avoid congestion on the footpaths and the entrance gates while waiting for admission each morning.
SCHOOL WARDEN
When crossing the road, please cross with the school wardens provided. We have seen an increase in traffic around our school and we appeal to all boys to cross with extreme caution and follow the rules of the Safe Cross Code. Stop, look, listen. Please do not cycle or scoot on busy footpaths. If you need to, please wheel your bike or scooter to a place where it is safe to cycle.
ALADDIN CONNECT
Please ensure you have downloaded the Aladdin Connect app and that you have updated your address, phone numbers and emergency contacts details.

SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS /SET
We thought it would be helpful to introduce you to the Special Education Teachers/ SET team that are working with your boys this year. Our SET team who work with our classes and our boys with SEN (Special Educational Needs) is coordinated by Mrs. Annette Lynch who is also Deputy Principal. We are extremely lucky to have a Special Education Teacher working with each year group. These are qualified primary school teachers with additional qualifications and expertise in special educational needs. We give support beginning in Junior Infants, as early intervention can minimise greater difficulties when boys are older. Our SET team also work with the whole class. Support is given in-class, in small groups or on a one-to-one basis depending on the needs involved.

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY
FIONA FORMAN
Resilience Skills for Children: Approaches from Positive Psychology
Once again, we will welcome Fiona Forman to our school to speak with our parent-body. These talks have been very well received in the past three years. Fiona will be face-to face this year in our school hall on Wednesday 19th October. 7.30-8.45pm
Fiona Forman is an author, speaker, facilitator and trainer in the area of well-being and Positive Psychology in education and parenting.
Fiona holds an M. Sc. in Applied Positive Psychology, the science of well-being, from the University of East London.
Having spent many years as a teacher, she is passionate about placing well-being at the heart of school and family life, and she has seen first-hand the many benefits this brings to both young people and adults alike. She is the co-author of Weaving Well-Being, an SPHE programme for children which is now widely used in Ireland and abroad. Fiona is also the author of Wired for Well-Being, a new well-being programme for second level schools. Her junior programme, Welcome to Well-Being, has also been recently released in Ireland and abroad.
Fiona is also the mother of 2 young adults, which has deepened her awareness of the importance of equipping our children with the support and skills they need to thrive and flourish, despite the challenges of life.
Her latest book, BRAVER THAN YOU BELIEVE: A Parent’s Guide to Building Children’s Resilience using Positive Psychology Skills, has just been released.
