Monthly Focus

Our monthly focus on personal hygiene - washing our hands after using the toilet, sneezing and coughing into tissues and disposing of them correctly and using hand sanitiser throughout the day, is going well. All boys have been reminded of this through SPHE lessons. Our recently purchased hand sanitiser dispensers are getting good use throughout the school. Older boys should be showering daily. Together, we will work to stop the spread of bugs and illnesses throughout the school.

If your son is feeling sick, please do not send him into school.

Book Fair 2020

Our annual book fair will take place from March 2nd-6th It will open daily from 8:45-9:30am and 1:30-3:00pm. It will also open on Thursday evening from 6:30-8:00 pm.

We always hold our fair close to World Book Day which is Thursday, March 5 th and the boys will receive a World Book Day token which will allow them €1.50 off a book at the fair or it may be used in any book shop.

The commission we receive from the fair will go back into books for your son’s class library, our school library and purchasing of class novels. For every euro spent we will receive 60c back in books for our school.

4th class boys will dress up as their favourite book character to celebrate World Book Day.

STEM

This March, our 3 rd class boys will plan, design and construct a model school extension! I look forward to their innovative ideas as they look to future proof our school!

Mental Health and Wellbeing

Graham Richmond, a secondary school teacher and facilitator, will speak to the parents of boys in 6 th class on ‘Transition from Primary School to Secondary School’. This event will take place in the school hall on Tuesday, March 24th at 7.30pm. Graham is vastly experienced in this area and it promises to be a good event.

Scooters and Bicycles

We love to see our boys cycling and scooting to school. Can I remind all boys, parents and minders to be mindful of pedestrians. Unfortunately, last week an elderly local lady was knocked over and badly injured by a boy from Hollypark scooting home from school.

Can I also remind drivers to exercise caution around the school and carpark at all times

School Closure

School will close at 11.50am for Infants and 12pm for 2nd-6th class on Friday 13th March to facilitate staff training in the Primary Language Curriculum. Please ensure all minders and after school have been advised of the early pick-up as teachers will not be in position to wait outside with children who are not collected on time.

Stars of the Future

Best of luck to our soccer team, who under the guidance of Mr. McEvoy and Mr. Mitchell, will play their first league match this week against St. Brigid’s BNS in the Foxrock derby! Our soccer team are going for 4 league cups in a row. No pressure boys!!

Paráid

Our annual St. Patrick’s Day paráid will take place on Wednesday 11th March between 11am and 12pm. We look forward to welcoming you to our school to see your boys perform.

Quiz Team

Congratulations to the wonderful quiz teams that represented our school so well in the Chapter Level of the Credit Union Quiz last Saturday. Karl Harrison, Oisin Gormley, Charlie Mahon, Liam O’ Mahony, Liam Bernin, Conn Brady, Harry Cruise and Luke Matthews did us proud. Thank you! Thank you to teacher Ms. Brennan for all her help with preparation, organising and attending the quiz.
