Halloween has arrived!

Spooky season is upon us! Well done to all boys, parents and staff members for their excellent work and support over the past 8 weeks. The boys have been working extremely hard and are due a well-deserved rest! I have included some lovely spooky creations that classes have been busy working on for the past few weeks!  Well done boys.

Halloween Dress Up

On Friday, the boys are allowed to dress in costume. It is optional but certain rules must be followed to ensure safety and welfare for all. You should have received an email detailing this last Friday. Here is a reminder if you need it.

  • No accessories, i.e. nothing they need to hold in their hand or things that can be put down for others to potentially pick up and handle.
  • Be mindful that the costume is not going to scare a younger student. If you think a Junior Infant will be frightened, then tone it down or reconsider.
  • No long capes, onesies or dangly material or anything that may be a tripping hazard.
  • Costumes should be comfortable and practical for sitting in the classroom for the day, i.e. no inflatable costumes etc.
  • Please remember to maintain the social distancing measures at drop-off and pick-up times.

Buddies

Despite class bubbles not mixing, we are still able to get our buddy system up and running. 6th class have paired up with their Senior Infant partners via video and letters and 5th class and our new Junior Infants boys will be pairing up after Halloween. It is a lovely tradition in Hollypark where our younger boys look up to our senior boys as role-models.

Aladdin

If your child has been absent from school for any reason, parents must give a reason for the absence and fill in the self-declaration form if returning post illness. To make this easier for you, Aladdin connect have a created a system where the parents can input the reason for absence through the Aladdin connect app on your phone.  Thank you for your co-operation.

Bike Racks

Thank you to parent, Jonathan Merrigan who has sourced 5 extra bike racks for use around the school. We can now accommodate our growing number of cyclists and scooters. Boys, remember to follow safe cycling etiquette and dismount from your bike in areas of high traffic, look out for pedestrians and follow the rules of the road. It is great to see so many cyclists and I hope to encourage some more to join the growing number.

STARS OF THE FUTURE

Well done to Eoin Flood in 4th class who slept out over night Last Friday night, Eoin slept out as part of Focus Ireland's Shine a Light campaign to raise awareness and funds for homelessness.  Eoin received wonderful support and generous donations from his classmates.  After the experience, he is incredibly grateful for his safe home and warm bed.
