Santa Visit

This week’s letter is a day late due to the arrival of a very special guest all the way from the North Pole. On Wednesday morning, Santa rolled into the building and perched himself in our special grotto. All boys from infants (accompanied by the 5th and 6th class buddies) to 4th came for a visit. Boys from each class entertained us with an array of Christmas songs and Santa was most impressed by a special performance of Santa Claus Rock from Ms. Kilty’s senior infants!

A huge thank you to the Parents’ Association elves who somehow under cover of darkness managed to erect a fullscale magical grotto in our PE hall. Thank you to Santa who took time out from his busy schedule to join us for the day.

Also, thank you to parent and RTÉ sports presenter, Jacqui Hurley and Mr. Ryan who acted as MCs for the event. The boys really loved this year's new format.

Monthly Focus

This month’s focus is on ‘a kind act a day for Advent’. Parents I have been talking to have really noticed the difference in their homes this month. Well done boys and keep up the great work.

Minute Silence

At assembly last Monday, we held a minute silence in honour of Samuel Roquette, age 12, who passed away last weekend. Samuel was not a pupil of Hollypark BNS but many of our boys played on the same sports teams as him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

In February, Martina Boylan from the National Parents’ Council will give a talk on Supporting Parents to Support Their Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing. The talk will be on two separate evenings – Evening 1: Infants to 2nd. Evening 2: 3rd to 6th. If interested in attending, please let me or your class teacher know so we can gauge numbers. February dates to be confirmed in the new year.

Christmas Collection in Aid of Capuchin Day Centre

Last Thursday, Ms. Mc Carrick, Ms. Maloney, our chaplain Maeve and I delivered hundreds of euro worth of donations from Hollypark BNS to Brother Kevin in the Capuchin Day Centre. They are very grateful for all our help this Christmas.
