student council

We are delighted to introduce our Student Council 6th class representatives. Alex Farrell, Oliver Barnes, Corey Mc Grane, Gavin Murphy, Luke Baviera and Austin Santhosh. I look forward to the boys having an input into student life in Hollypark BNS. The Council will give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organising and carrying out school activities and projects.  In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit, ethos and community welfare, the Student Council is the voice of the student body.  They help share student ideas, interests and concerns with the school wide community. We look forward to adding more class representatives in the coming weeks.

covid-19 and illness

With the rise in the numbers of positive cases within the local area and in the school community, we ask parents to be extremely vigilant. Please do not to send children to school if they are displaying any symptoms of Covid-19 or any other illness. If in doubt, please err on the side of caution. We really want to keep our school open for the duration of the year. Continue to teach good hygiene and respiratory etiquette and cut down on social contacts in so far as possible. Ensure boys’ hands are clean when arriving at school and please continue to follow all public health advice. Symptoms and treatment - HSE.ie

Please watch this 50 second video from the HSE and DES.

kilmacud crokes

Best of luck to the Kilmacud Crokes senior football team who play in Championship final this weekend. Hollypark BNS has many past pupils represented in the squad including goalkeeper Conor Ferris, captain, Shane Cunningham and star forward, Hugh Kenny. We wish them the very best of luck.

It was a wonderful weekend for Kilmacud Crokes hurlers who won the Senior A final last weekend. Star man, Ronan Hayes scored a total of 1-14 to help his side beat Na Fianna. Ronan is a past pupil of Hollypark BNS. Ronan and Ben Hynes (goalkeeper and past pupil) will bring the cup to our school on Friday morning. Boys are encouraged to wear Kilmacud colours, purple and gold (on Friday) in celebration of the hurling team and in anticipation of the football final.

Pictured below is Ronan Hayes competing against Mr. Burke (former teacher) in a sports day puc fada competition in 2009. Great credit must go to Mrs. Regan and Mr. Burke for inspiring many generations of top-class hurlers. Kilmacud Crokes are reaping the benefits. Also pictured is Ben Hynes enjoying meeting past pupil and Dublin hero Kevin Nolan with the Sam Maguire in 2011. Ben will have the chance to inspire the next generation when shows off his latest silverware next Friday. We look forward to meeting our sporting heroes and past pupils.

To celebrate World Diabetes Day, Archie Wyse from 3rd class gave us a brilliant description on what is it like to live with Diabetes Type 1.  He enthralled the class with a PowerPoint presentation along with demonstrations of how his pump works. Archie is a fantastic ambassador for diabetes. We are very proud of him.
