CORMAC’S WEEKLY BLOG

The life of an 11-year-old during this latest lock down – week 4

Just a few days until midterm break. I'm sure the teachers are looking forward to it as much as we are! Overall, I think home-schooling is going well but it will be good to have a break.

During this latest lockdown I've got to read a lot more books. Luckily, I stocked up from the library before they closed. The latest book I am reading is ‘100 Magic Moments in Rugby’. Speaking of which, I watched the rugby match on Sunday. I thought we had a good chance of coming 1st or 2nd in the Six Nations as England lost to Scotland on Saturday. However, it doesn't look likely now. It was a bad weekend all around for my teams as Liverpool lost to Manchester City. I thought they had a good chance of winning when Salah scored the penalty but then City scored three late goals. Bummer! I did not get to watch it but I saw the highlights of Man United V Everton. What a game! Calvert-Lewin scoring with the last play of the game. Bruno Fernandes also scored a cracker of a goal, such an amazing player. With all this sport, I can’t wait until the GAA championship starts again.

The answer to last week’s riddle - A cowboy went to town on Friday, he stayed for 3 nights and came back on Friday. How could that be? Answer - Friday was the name of his horse.

This week’s riddle - I have cities but no houses; I have mountains but no trees; I have water but no fish. What am I?

Cormac Kavanagh, 5th Class.

SAFER INTERNET DAY

Safer Internet Day 2021

Yesterday, we celebrated Safer Internet Day. With more and more of our daily interactions now taking place online through social media and messaging apps it is particularly important that parents are aware of the dangers. A study conducted for Safer Internet Day found that 1 in 3 children had linked up with someone they did not know online. The statistics from today’s report are frightening. Please continue to be vigilant around your son’s internet usage.
