Jolly Phonics
Text

We have completed the first two Jolly Phonics sound groups. The boys are already beginning to sound out and blend the sounds together.

Here are a few things to remember:

  1. Practise sounding out the word. Keep the voice turned on.
  2. Blend the sounds together and keep repeating until they can say the word.
  3. When your son is confident with all of the words on his list you can cut them up and make a ‘Lucky Dip’ bag or box.
  4. Remember to keep revising the sounds in the Sound Copy. If there is a new sound, focus on that sound at the end. Try to name five words that start with or contain that sound. Please refer back to the Parent's Information Booklet you received on our information evening for a reminder of the actions. It is also available online here.
  5. Playing ‘I Spy’ and using the resources on ‘www.starfall.com’ can help to reinforce phonological awareness.
